Description
William Horton traveled to America in 1735 with James Oglethorpe and was granted 500 acres of land in exchange for the promise of cultivating it within 10 years. He settled On Jekyll Island in 1736 and was the first European to occupy the land and was responsible for the first sustainable farm. His nearest neighbors were on St Simons Island, the next island to the North. This house ruins was his home on Jekyll Island.
